Great news in the tourism sector for Lecce: our city is among the best in the world according to the Trivago Global Reputation Ranking. What does this mean? It is the classification system used by Trivago to rank the top 100 destinations in the world with the best online reputation. It is based on the positive reviews of guests who have stayed in accomodation within the city, and it analyses the level of welcome and facilities offered. I wanted to check this news directly with my contacts at Trivago and this is what they replied.
“Tourists who have holidayed in Lecce in the last twelve months have awarded the local hotels for their high quality in terms of welcome and facilities offered,” said Giulia Eremita, marketing manager of Trivago Italia. “With a score index of 85.35%, the city is one of the flagships for hospitality in our country”.
Precisely, Lecce is ranked 6th in the world. Matera in Basilicata is in second place. San Gimignano in Tuscany is in third place. The other Italian city in the top 10 is Sorrento on the Amalfitan Coast which is in ninth place. The list, of course, takes into account data from the Trivago database, but it is a good indicator considering that it compares more than 900,000 hotels from over 250 online booking sites and with over 200 million reviews. The Trivago Global Reputation Ranking classifies only cities offering no less than 130 types of accommodation within the city and only those with an average of at least 60 reviews per hotel. The figures refer to the last 12 months and are calculated on a scale of 0 to 100 based on over 200 million reviews. I believe that this is yet another good reason to guarantee a great holiday in this wonderful city of Puglia.
